EIGHT08 EATS: The Mandalay
Opening their doors to the general public back in 2006 and serving both locals and tourists alike with their authentic and traditional Cantonese dishes, Honk Kong style Dim Sum, and pau hana specials are the husband and wife team Larry and Linda Chan of The Mandalay. The Mandalay is located in Honolulu, Hawaii within the historic Yong Sing building, and their commitment to serve Hawaii quality Chinese cuisine shines through in each and every dim sum, appetizer, and dish that The Mandalay has to offer
Pictured below is an order of their Choy Sum with Oyster Sauce. No complaints here ? Verdict: (5) out of (5) Shakas ?
Pictured above and below is a double order of their Chicken Feet which equated to (8) pieces of chicken feet. Flavorful gelatinous chicken feet goodness. Verdict: (5) out of (5) Shakas ?
Pictured below is a double order of their Shrimp with Honey Walnut. Creamy Shrimp Honey Walnut goodness in every bite ? Verdict: (5) out of (5) Shakas ?
Pictured below is a double order of their Sweet & Sour Pork. Sweet & sour porky goodness in every bite. Their Sweet & Sour Pork did not disappoint ? Verdict: (5) out of (5) Shakas ?
Pictured below is double order of their Steamed Fish with Ginger and Scallion. No complaints here ? Verdict: (5) out of (5) Shakas ?
Pictured below is a double order of their Yang Chow Fried Rice. Although their Yang Chow Fried Rice was visually appealing, it was bland at the least lacking taste, flavors, and textures to which I look forward to in each and every fried rice dish that crosses paths with my mouth ? When done properly, in my humble opinion, I feel a fried rice dish can be eaten by itself when incorporating a variety of flavors, textures, vegetables, and proteins within the dish hence my verdict of a (2.5) out of (5) Shakas ? for the Mandalay’s Yang Chow Fried Rice
