Fun Fact: The area where Ala Moana Beach Park now stands was once a vast swamp land that was purchased by Dillingham Dredging Company back in 1913 and began development there after transforming this once vast swamp land into a park. Originally named Moana Park, it was renamed Ala Moana Park meaning “path to the sea” in 1947 and it’s beach portion was added in 1954 transforming it to a beautiful 100 acre park with over a mile stretch of white sand to what we know of it as of today
