The VW Club Of Hawaii held their 25th Annual Shaka Weekend Show & Shine and Hawaii Food Bank Drive on Sunday, September 6th, 2026 within the Ala Moana Beach Key Hole bringing together Oahu’s Volkswagen Community for a Sunday Funday here in Oahu Nei

Posted up amongst many other Volkswagen Busses along the main strip leading into and out of Ala Moana Beach Park was Sal Acosta’s 1964 Volkswagen 21 Window Bus as pictured above and below. Fun fact: Sal Acosta is the Deputy Chief Operations Officer for the VW Club Of Hawaii and has been actively participating within the various parades on Oahu Nei throughout the years
Posted up within the lineup of Volkswagen Dune Buggies fronting the Ala Moana Beach Keyhole was Todd Matsumoto’s 1963 Volkswagen Dune Buggy aka Zig Zag as pictured above. Fun fact: Todd Matsumoto is the current President of the VW Club Of Hawaii, and was responsible for co-founding the club along with friends back in 1997
Gordon Ortiz Sr.’s chop top Volkswagen Bug, pictured above, still looking cherry till this very day since my eyes crossed paths with it easily over a decade ago. Fun fact: Gordon Ortiz Sr/ is the Chief Executive Officer of the VW Club Of Hawaii
Lino Areola Jr.’s Volkswagen Bug, pictured above and below, took home Best In Class, Best Paint, and Best Of Show at the 2026 VW Club Of Hawaii Shaka Weekend Show & Shine and Hawaii Food Bank Drive

Henry Ader brought out his Volkswagen Dune Buggy, pictured above and below, much to the delight of both participants and spectators alike at the 2026 VW Club Of Hawaii Shaka Weekend Show & Shine and Hawaii Food Bank Drive
Team Foreign Objects was in attendance with a variety of water cooled Volkswagens within their lineup
Noel Kaai’s 1958 Volkswagen Convertible Bug, pictured above and below, made it’s debut at the VW Club Of Hawaii Shaka Weekend Show & Shine and Hawaii Food Bank Drive rocking a custom paint hue, air suspension, and BBS wheels on all four corners netting Noel a 2nd Place in the overall class category that he had entered
